The first five black and white printouts are free; each additional page after five is $0.20 per page.
Standard black & white copies cost $0.20 per page.
Scanning Faxing is offered at $0.50 per page to send & $0.10 per page to receive.

Computer/Wifi Access

The library has 6 computers for public use with internet access, online databases, and Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Users under the age of 18 must have an Internet Safety Policy signed by a parent/legal guardian before use.

The children's area has computers for playing educational and instructional games. These computers are reserved for families with children. Children under 6 years of age must be under the direct supervision of a parent or caregiver when using a computer.

The children's area also has a family workstation that allows caregivers to use the computer while their young child can play right beside them.

Bring your own laptop computer or other Wifi devices to the library and use our wireless network throughout the building. Wifi access is also available 24/7 outside the library as well.

Passport Services

The Metcalfe County Public Library is an official Passport Acceptance Facility with the U.S. Department of State. 

Appointments are required. Call the library at 270-432-4981 to schedule an appointment. Please notify the library if you are unable to keep your appointment.

Please bring: 

  1. Completed Application for a U.S. Passport, Form DS-11. (include link)

NOTE: Do not sign application until requested to do so by an authorized agent.

  1. Proof of Identity 

Approved forms of ID:

  • Kentucky Driver’s License
  • Kentucky State ID card
  • Previous Passport
  • Certificate of Naturalization with identifiable photo
  • Certificate of Citizenship with identifiable photo
  • Government Employee Identification with identifiable photo
  • Official U.S. military or military dependent ID
  • Current (valid) foreign passport
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship

Submit an original AND a photocopy

Documents are submitted with the application and will be mailed back to you by the State Department. 

Acceptable proof of citizenship includes:

  1. U.S. Birth Certificate (Must be an original or certified copy and list your full name, dae and place of birth, and parent(s) full names. If you need a copy of your Kentucky Birth Certificate contact the Office of Vital Statistics (include link )
  2. Naturalization Certificate
  3. Previous U.S. Passport (may be expired but must be undamaged)
  4. Photograph (Photographs can not be taken on-site. You must bring your own photograph.)
  5. Must have been taken in the past 6 months
  6. Front view with a white background
  7. Must be 2”x2” in size

NOTE: Passport applications for minors under age 16 may require additional documentation. See the U.S. Department of State website for more information. (


NOTE: Passport Fees are determined by the U.S. Department of State. (U.S. Department of State Payment may only be made by check or money order) (

Two seperate payments are required:

  1. Make Passport Application Fee checks payable to the U.S. Department of State.
  2. $35.00 Acceptance/Execution Fee can be made via cash or check. Make checks payable to Metcalfe County Public Library.

Notary Services

The Library offers notary services, which are free of charge. Library notaries are typically available during normal business hours, Monday through Friday. It is recommended that patrons seeking notary services call ahead to verify availability.

Book A Librarian

The Book-A-Librarian service allows you to reserve appointments with a staff member with expertise in your area of need for up to one hour of uninterrupted, personalized reference assistance. 

Book-A-Librarian for:

  1. Training in the library’s online research databases
  2. Downloading ebooks and audiobooks
  3. Help with general computer basics
  4. Career and job source resources
  5. Test proctoring and virtual learning
  6. Genealogy research

To schedule a session, call the library at 270-432-4981. A staff member will respond to your request within 3 business days. Sessions take place at the library during normal business hours.

Home Delivery Service

This service provides personal library service to Metcalfe County residents of any age who have difficulty visiting the library due to physical limitations, as well as geographically remote residents. In addition, Nursing Homes & Elderly Housing Complexes may request drop-off service. If you would like Educational Delivery or Home Delivery service, please complete and submit the form below.
